The STIHL MS 400 C-M is the world’s first chainsaw with a magnesium piston, delivering STIHL’s highest performance in the 60cc class. The 2-MIX engine provides 4kW of power as well as more torque – 4.1 Nm. The magnesium piston is also 14% lighter than an aluminium piston, helping to ensure rapid acceleration. 2-MIX technology ensures up to 20% less fuel consumption and up to 50% less emissions compared to equivalent two-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology.
In addition to the new 66.8 cc engine, the MS 400 C-M includes STIHL’s latest M-Tronic technology featuring simple re-calibration procedure and an improved HD2 filter, ensuring optimum performance at all times. This fully electronic engine management system adjusts ignition timing and fuel metering in all operating modes. It also takes external conditions such as temperature, altitude and fuel quality into account, ensuring consistent engine performance, a constant maximum speed and superb acceleration.
M-Tronic also makes manual carburettor adjustments unnecessary. Thanks to electronic cold/warm start recognition, there’s only one start position on the combi-lever. The engine starts after fewer pulls and with no change of position, and can immediately accelerate up to speed – even after a cold start. M-Tronic also remembers the settings from the last time the tool was used. So when external conditions are the same, optimal engine performance is available every time you start up again.
STIHL ElastoStart reduces the shock caused by the compression of the engine during starting, while the integral anti-vibration system significantly reduces vibrations at the handles for comfortable use throughout the working day.
